Urban Mutts
Urban Mutts is the first of its kind in the UK, it’s a high end dog hotel and dog daycare which is located in Westfield car park. Urban Mutts is the first facility to follow and exceed the new government legislation for dog boarding.
This project had a variety of challenges for us, due to its location and concept. We had a variety of stakeholders who we had to receive design sign off from; Building control, Westfield and the local councils welfare officer, all had a variety of concerns that had to be addressed.

We had to carry out two rounds of value engineering to find savings of £400,000 whilst maintaining the look and feel of the design. The unit was formed by external walls with the construction technique having to be both cost effective and signed off by Westfield for its weight and ability to be taken down. This was the design teams first commercial project, therefore we provided a lot of advice on build-ability and provided design ideas and assisted with closing out Westfields design comments.
